Dr. Dan’s Rapper Table Tennis Tournament

Winners Take Trophies and Cash Prizes

The Ross Norton Recreation Complex gym was filled with the sounds of plinking and plonking of the little orange balls in mesmerizing flight.  The Dr. Dan’s Rapper Table Tennis Tournament was the first in a series of tournaments that offers not only advanced players an opportunity to compete but also has divisions for basement ping pong players and for junior players ages 9-17.  The next two tournaments in the series are Dr. Dan’s Turkey Pong Table Tennis Tournament on November 4^th, followed by Dr. Dan’s Jingle Ball Table Tennis Tournament on December 16^th.  The enticements for the competition are cash prizes and trophies awarded to the winners, plus the good fun which comes with the intensity of competing in this Olympic sport.

 

The Dr. Dan tournaments are sponsored by the Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC).  The STTC operates several table tennis clubs in Pinellas County, open to anyone with an interest in the sport.  The activities of the STTC include regular club play, tournaments, coaching, junior and senior activities, and community outreach in the sport of table tennis.  The STTC, in partnership with The City of Clearwater Recreation Department, also offers a junior program for students under age 18 to develop proper fundamentals in the sport.  The junior program also awards sponsorships for tournaments as well as an annual college scholarship to students that show an ability and intense desire to compete in the sport of table tennis.  More information about the upcoming Dr. Dan Tournaments, and the locations and hours of club play, is available on the STTC web site www.SunriseTableTennis.com, or by contacting Margo Lindsay at (727) 669-0899.
