Four members of the Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC), who earlier this year won medals at the 2005 Senior Olympics, advanced to the 2005 Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah. They once again dominated the table tennis events taking a total of ten medals, including two gold, five silver, and three bronze. These Pinellas County senior athletes swept the field of 200 table tennis competitors from around the world.
The Huntsman World Senior Games has been held every year since 1987. This year, over 9,000 seniors competed in 23 sports. The table tennis competition ran over four days including fifteen divisions by age and class. Table tennis players came from many countries, including several European countries, South America and Mongolia.
The STTC provides club play and competition in Pinellas County for Florida residents of all ages and skill, every day of the week. Special coaching sessions for seniors by Peruvian coach Luis Sanchez are offered to any player age 55 and over. The schedule and locations of play are available on the STTC web site, www.SunriseTableTennis.com, or by contacting Margo Lindsay at (727) 669-0899.
