Seven members of the Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC) won medals at The Senior Olympics (www.2005seniorgames.org) in Pittsburgh last week , including five gold, five silver and two bronze. The STTC members competed in the eight-day table tennis event and took medal in 9 out of the 34 division competitions. These Pinellas County senior athletes swept the field of 750 competitors and brought home a clear victory.
The Summer National Senior Games of The Senior Olympics is held every two years and is an 18-sport competition for men and women 50 and over. The STTC members won their entry into The Senior Olympics by competing in table tennis tournaments throughout Florida in 2004.
The STTC provides club play and competition in Pinellas County for Florida residents of all ages and skill, every day of the week. Special coaching sessions for seniors by Peruvian coach Luis Sanchez are offered to any player age 50 and over. The schedule and locations of play are available on the STTC web site, www.SunriseTableTennis.com, or by contacting Margo Lindsay at (727) 669-0899.
