Golden Girls Retain "Nations Best" Title At National Seniors Games.

The beautiful and talented Golden Girls of Clearwater's Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC) retained their title as "Nations Best Table Tennis Players" by winning in every competition they entered at the 2007 National Senior Games held in Louisville KY. Their wins, along with
the wins of four other club members (Jose Borges, Nancy Dorsey, Ralph Gragg, and Al Palumbo) made STTC the Nations Reigning Table Tennis Club.  We can expect this trend to continue as the Golden Girls have no desire to relinquish their title to any player or club.

STTC Seniors Dominate Florida State Games in Table Tennis

Champs Bring Home 24 Medals

Once again, the Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC) senior players dominated the Florida Senior Games that took place in The Villages on December 5th, winning a total of 24 medals in all categories.  The STTC members train throughout the year in anticipation of the Florida State Games and the National Senior Games that follow.

Leading the charge was Nahed “The Silver Scorpion” Williams of Reddington Shores, with 3 Gold medals (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles), followed closely by Margo “The Magnificent” Lindsay of Clearwater, with 2 Gold and 1 Silver (Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles).  Jose “Joe” Borges of Spring Hill won 2 Gold, 1 Bronze (Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Singles); Sadako “Sue” Tobias of Ocala won 1 Gold, 1 Silver (Doubles, Mixed Doubles); Ray “Guido” Look of Dunedin took home 1 Gold, 2 Silvers (Doubles, Singles, Mixed Doubles); Sari “The Chopping Dutchman” Kisbany won 1 Gold, 2 Silvers (Doubles, Singles, Mixed Doubles); Ed “The Postman” Curran of Clearwater won 2 Silver (Singles, Doubles); John “Big John” Mason of Seminole was awarded 2 Silvers (Singles, Doubles); Al “Black Bart” Palumbo of Safety Harbor won 2 Silvers (Doubles, Mixed Doubles; and Richard “Trickey Dick” Moreau of Largo was awarded 1 Silver (Doubles).

Other participants from the STTC were Ted “The Wall” Ostrowski of Largo; Mario “Enforcer” Carreon of Clearwater; Conrad “Lefty” Zorn of Palm Harbor; Samuel “Penny” Chau of Palm Harbor; and Ralph “Tiger” Gragg of Ocala.

Club members were especially pleased by the play of Nahed Williams, who formerly was partial to the silver, by winning 3 silver medals at the last National Senior Games and again 3 silver medals at the 2005 Huntsman World Senior Games, but has stepped up her game by diligent practice and coaching.  Subsidized coaching sessions by Peruvian coach Luis Sanchez are offered by the STTC to any senior player age 55 and over.
