Sunrise
Sports Foundation, Inc.
The Foundation is a new organization and is an outgrowth of
the activities by the Sunrise Table Tennis Club. The goal of the Foundation is
to promote low cost or free athletic competitions and educational clinics for
all adults and juveniles to promote fitness and personal excellence through
planned athletic activities, educational, recreational, competitive and social
events. Our belief is that such activities will provide incentives to reduce
juvenile delinquency and despondency among seniors. We provide free activities to all juveniles under the age of
18 and have a plan for subsidizing indigent seniors.
The activities, games and educational clinics are open to
all people regardless of age, gender, ethnic background, race or religious
affiliation.
The games and educational clinics provide the foundation
for competing at the national and international table tennis games.
Our tournaments are governed by the rules and regulations of the USA
Table Tennis (USATT) organizing body and
the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
Our goal with our juvenile program is to develop players for national and
international competition.
We have a “Document of Understanding” with the
City Of Clearwater, Florida, which allows us the use of their facilities, and
they are working with us to promote our programs in all of their recreation centers.
Some of these centers are located in economically depressed areas.
Volunteers, with the exception of contracted professional
table tennis coaches, conduct all activities. All officers of the table tennis clubs
and the new Foundation are unpaid volunteers.
The Sunrise Sports Foundation is a 501 (3) (C ) charitable
organization. This will allow us to obtain the donations and grants which are
required to support our programs. The new organization will also allow us is to
expand our programs to other sports as the organization grows.
Past donations have been by personal one-on-one
solicitation by club volunteers. In
the new organization, Foundation officers and other volunteers will solicit
donations from large corporate sponsors within Pinellas County and from club
members.
