On Saturday July 30th it was held our fourth Inter-Club Tournament. It was a day of great table tennis with outstanding play by both clubs Land-O-Lake and the Sunrise club. LOL won the tournament with 94 winning games to Sunrise’s 87 winning games.
The A group, the highest ranked players, was won by Sunrise with a total of 36 wins to our 14 wins. The LOL team played excellent but the edge was with the more experienced tournament players from Sunrise. Congratulations to Angel, Ricardo and Jose on a well deserved win. Kudos to Jimmy, Xuan, Juan and Jason for the valiant effort and great play. Special thanks to Jesse and Mike N. for filling in for Sunrise’s missing player.
The B group, middle ranked players, was won by the LOL team with a total of 47 wins to Sunrises 32 wins.
This group was well matched up and it showed in the many matches that went to five games. We saw many games played to deuce and beyond. Play was outstanding by both teams with the edge going to the LOL team who was hungry for the win. Congratulations to, Ken, Tom, Bobby, and Satar on their hard fought victory. Kudos to Patricia, Al, Ray and Eddy for their valiant effort and excellent play.
The C group, with players at the lower end of the ranking, was won by the LOL club with 33 wins to Sunrise’s 19 wins. Youth prevailed over age and injury in this matchup. Congratulations to, Hisham, Javier, Lucky, and Phillip for this and what looks to be many more victories. Kudos to Ralph, Victoria, Sue and Margo for giving it their all and playing some great table tennis.
